About the Thistle:
The thistle was adopted by Scots sometime before the 15th century as an enduring symbol of their strength and resilience. One legend places invading Vikings under the command of the Norse king Haakon at the forefront of the Thistle’s locus in history. According to this legend, Haakon landed at the shore of a Scottish village in the cover of darkness. Leading his men silently through the fields to raid, they encountered an outgrowth of thistles. Unprepared for the tenacious and painful barbed stems, Haakon’s men quickly gave themselves away with their cries of pain. The Scottish villagers rallied to meet their foe, and the raid ended before it could begin.
About Our Sporrans:
Like all of our products, our sporran is made from hand in our workshop right here in the USA. We hand select the beads on our leather drawstring cords to complement the bag, though bead colors may vary depending on what we have in stock.
This is the largest capacity sporran that we offer. It can easily accommodate a phone, wallet, keys, and more.
All of our themed sporrans come with an interchangeable flap that can be switched out for any other flap on our site, providing your bag with more versatility!
Functionality:
The bag utilizes a leather drawstring cord to close the bag at the top. The second leather cord is used to loop over the concho or clasp on the flap to hold it closed. The back of the sporran is reinforced at the top with vegetable-tanned leather. The flap attaches to the back of the bag at the top with heavy-duty snaps. There are two D-rings to attach the sporran to a belt. The loop will comfortably fit on a 2.5-inch belt should you choose to wear it that way.
Dimensions:
Flap only – 4.5 in W x 6 in L
Rob Roy Style Sporran Pouch only – 8.5 in W x 9 in H*
*By design, our sporran includes quite a few folds in the leather and is expandable beyond these dimensions.
