This is the Clan Henderson Highland Targe by Celtic Leatherworks. Leather shields like this one were carried by Highland warriors for personal defense. The foreground of this targe features a magnificent cross embedded with knotwork. In the quadrants surrounding the cross are the Henderson clan crest in the upper left, and the shield elements from the Henderson coat of arms in the bottom right. In the upper right is the Scottish thistle opposed by the Lion Rampant. These elements combine Scotland and Clan Henderson into one. The hand hammered brass boss has been etched with Celtic designs. The back is covered with fur and has adjustable arm straps with reproduction brass buckles. This targe is 19 inches in diameter and weighs about 10 pounds. This targe was commissioned as a gift.

This targe is fully functional, but is intended as Celtic art. It will be an heirloom that you will want to pass down to your children.
